iOS 11.2.2 Jailbreak on the Horizon

By | February 7, 2018

iOS 11.2.2 jailbreak has an increasing chances of becoming a reality for iPhone and iPad, thanks to the fact that a new vulnerability has been discovered for the OS. Shortly after, Apple has confirmed in the iOS 11.2.5 change list that it has implemented a solution to the exploitation discovered by Adam Donenfeld, a security researcher at Zimperium zLabs. The vulnerability being announced on Twitter.

Since Apple has blocked the vulnerability in iOS 11.2.5, it’s clear that a jailbreak solution can only be released for iOS 11.2.2 at this time. But even so the news is good especially for those who had upgraded to iOS 11.2.2 – iOS 11.2, because the only existing jailbreak solutions are limited to iOS 11.1.2.

Adam Donenfeld, who discovered this exploit, claims that in order to be transformed into a iOS 11.2.2 jailbreak solution, jailbreak developers need to use existing frameworks like LiberiOS to modify it.

“if it makes it better in any case, this is accessible from the sandbox (so theoretically if someone plans to write an exploit, @Morpheus______’s jailbreak framework can be used with that).”

Currently it is hard to predict exactly when a jailbreak solution for iOS 11.2.2 will be released, but based on existing information, we may not have to wait that long. However, since iOS 11.2.5 is blocking this exploit, and iOS 11.2.2 is no longer signed, many people will not be able to use it, unfortunately .

We will keep you posted if there are any updates.
